Having seen the banners and advertisements that the Singapore Airshow once again opens this year, I was determined to go and visit. It only comes once in two years but, unfortunately, I wasn't able to go the last time (side note: I am about to reach my 3rd year here in Singapore, wow!). I booked my ticket via Sistic and went there on a Sunday.
There were two air exhibitions that day. I didn't see the morning one, but from what I saw online, it had more aircrafts doing their thing. The 3PM show had only 2 Singapore Air Force planes, but it was a great (and very loud) show. The two planes even did a maneuver where they were flying in parallel, with one on top of the other, upside down (I don't know the technical name of the move though, hehe).
The whole experience reminded me of home, when our dad used to let us watch military drills and exhibitions, so I was pretty giddy the whole time taking photos.

I was half-wishing the clouds were more prominent during that day to add dramatic feel to the photos, but I'm pretty much happy with the results. It was a challenge chasing the planes, though - so my ally was the continuous shooting. I only had one photo with the clouds as the backdrop - which I will use to segue the photos I took from the ground exhibition. I thought the shiny surface of the planes were more dramatic in monochrome, so decided to treat the photos like that. It was a fun event, and I am looking forward to seeing the next air show!
On an another side note, I dedicate this blog entry to my trusted prime lens (50mm f1.8), which got broken last Sunday. It was the cheapest investment in my gear, but I have to admit, it is my favorite one (apart from the camera body itself, of course) for portraiture. The other lenses miss you already, including the newest addition to the family (*wink* - will post sample pics soon).
