Cinemagraph Portrait Trials

I wanted to try out creating cinemagraphs for quite some time now, but my current gear (Canon 400D) doesn't record movies, so I had to borrow a friend's Canon 500D (thanks, Jcee!) to try out this kind of output.

The first photo below was my very first trial. Since it was on low light conditions, I had a little difficulty creating this shot. Choosing the best "fixed" frame was tough (since I asked my "models" to go down the stairs, but didn't instruct them to do it slowly), and creating the GIF file was time-consuming. I had to make the photo monochrome to make the some imperfections less obvious. Nevertheless, I liked the result a lot, and shooting it was very fun.

Applying the things I learned from the first trial, I came up with the second photo little easier than I expected. Pardon if I had to use myself as the model - I couldn't find any willing model very early in the morning.

I will definitely try and get some more of this kind of photographs soon. It's quite fun!

Thanks to Abs, Pao, & Jason for being my willing models for the first cinemagraph.
